Our Story
Papa John planted his orchard in the 1970s as a passion project, and his fruit soon became well known throughout the San Benito community. Each season, he would put out a simple cardboard sign to let passersby know his fruit was available. Although Papa John has since passed away, his grandson shares his passion for citrus and continues to care for the orchard.
When Granny Claire’s in Harlingen closed, an opportunity arose to expand into the fresh juice and section tray market. In 2024, Papa’s Fruit was officially branded and marketed—no longer relying on just a cardboard sign. The community’s response was overwhelming, and Papa’s legacy lives on in a way he may have never imagined.
